Skyrim: Dragon Armor Creation and Stats

The following are two tables showing the items needed to create dragon armor and the armor rating of it once created. Keep in mind that a smithing level of 100 is necessary to create dragon armor as is the perk for dragon armor smithing.

Here is a helpful bit of info if you are trying to figure out how much dragon stuff to sell and how much to keep in order to make your dragon armor.

A full set of Dragonplate (heavy) armor requires:
  • 6 Dragon Bones
  • 13 Dragon Scales
  • 10 Leather Strips

A full set of Dragonscale (light) armor requires:
  • 14 Dragon Scales
  • 7 Iron Ingots
  • 4 Leather
  • 10 Leather Strips

  1. Love the breakdown! Thanks!
I love the dragon plate, but why-oh-why is the helmet not the same color as the rest of the armor! It looks so incongruous!
Finally, we foud a Dragon Heartscale the other day. Any idea what purpose it serves?

  2. Thanks for the feedback. The only purpose I know of for the Dragon Heartscale is a quest that you get for Tolfdir once you get your Alteration skill level up to 90. Once you have the quest activated and have the Dragon Heartscale, you bring it to Tolfdir and he uses it to make a new Alteration spell he was working on. If you are into Alteration, the quest reward is pretty awesome.

  3. Welcome! Thanks for the info on the Heartscale!
I have another question for you, if you don't mind! Have you located the Forgemaster's Fingers? We're having a devil of a time doing so! Thanks again!

  4. Unfortunately, I believe the location of the Forgemaster's Fingers is at least somewhat random. I have now seen it located in 5 different places and there didn't seem to be any reason for the difference of location. All I can tell you for sure is that it depends on the directions given by the Orc who gave you the quest. I'd be happy to help you with your specific issue if you'd like to post the details of the instructions you were given.

  5. I was afraid of that. Unfortunately, we cannot remember the specific instructions, but thought it should have been somewhere around the Reach. To further confound us, we're allowed free access to the villages and cannot find anyone to talk to about them. Ugh.
